Melvin Mayer
Melvin L Mayer, M.D., graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors degree in Chemistry from Loma Linda University, Riverside, California and went on to receive his M.D. from Loma Linda University School of Medicine.
He completed a surgical internship at LLU and went on to complete a Residency in Family Medicine at Florida Hospital Medical Center, Orlando Florida. His senior year was Chief Resident. For 17 years he established Mayer Family Care Center near Orlando.
In 1992, he completed his International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) fellowship to join Dr. Matt Leavitt as one of the Founder’s of Medical Hair Restoration. He founded the surgical offices in Seattle, Denver, Las Vegas and San Diego.
Dr. Mayer is a Diplomate of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS). He has been an Oral Examiner for the ABHRS for several years and also served as the President of the Board in 2007. He is also a Fellow of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and presently is a member of its Board of Governors.
In 2004, he won the Platinum Follicle Award presented by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. This award is presented annually by the ISHRS for outstanding research in hair surgery.
